Ennis is a 2cmc 1/1 legend that flickers one of your creatures on ETB, then grows by +1/+1 at end of step if any card was exiled that turn — including the creature it flickered. It's a self-contained flicker/counters engine, but requires a creature to flicker to gain counters and does nothing immediately to the board. Signature in flicker/blink shells that value ETB triggers, and in counters-voltron strategies where Ennis itself can grow large; too slow and small to shine outside dedicated archetypes.

• Ennis's counter trigger checks if any card was exiled 'this turn', not specifically by Ennis — other exile effects (Settle the Wreckage, Tomik's Dismissal, etc.) also satisfy the condition, giving the trigger outside of flicker turns.

• The ETB flicker is 'at the beginning of the next end step', so if Ennis enters on your own main phase, the return and the counter trigger both fire in the same end step, netting you a counter immediately on the turn Ennis arrives.

• Because the flicker targets 'another creature you control', Ennis cannot flicker itself — the counter-grow plan is tied to having at least one other creature on board.
