Rationale
Kinzu is a 5cmc 5/4 flyer that converts dying nontoken creatures into 1/1 toxic 1 token copies at a cost of 2 life, building a poisonous board from your graveyard churn. It's signature in aristocrats (recurring body-recycling) and infect-toxic (accumulating poison counters via combat), but requires a creature-dense, sacrifice-oriented shell to generate meaningful value. Tokens-go-wide is a negative because Kinzu's trigger explicitly requires nontoken creatures dying, offering nothing for decks that run token strategies. At 5 mana with a 2-life tax per trigger, it's too slow and conditional for high-power tables.
Learnings (3)
Kinzu's tokens are 1/1 copies with toxic 1 regardless of the original creature's stats or abilities — so copying a powerful ETB creature yields a 1/1 body that retains all text except P/T, meaning ETB effects are NOT retriggered when the token enters (it's created as a copy, not cast or flickered).

The 2-life payment is optional, so you can choose not to exile a creature if the life cost would be prohibitive or if you want it in the graveyard for other synergies (e.g., reanimation targets).

In a poison/toxic shell, Kinzu functions as a poison counter accumulator even through board wipes — as long as Kinzu itself survives, every subsequent wipe that hits your nontoken creatures rebuilds a toxic board for free (minus life).
