Rationale

2cmc 3/2 Legendary that grants hexproof to Mounts and Vehicles during your turn and puts a +1/+1 counter on each attacking Mount or Vehicle. A signature commander/support piece for vehicle-matters and counters-voltron shells in GW; the hexproof protection is particularly powerful since it shuts down interaction on your combat step, and the counter accumulation turns any Mount or Vehicle into a growing threat. Requires density of Mounts/Vehicles to generate value, making it commander-dependent in most builds.

Learnings (3)

  • Miriam's hexproof applies only during your turn, so opponents can still target your Mounts and Vehicles on their turns — timing removal on end step or upkeep is the correct play against her.

  • Mounts are a creature subtype introduced in Outlaws of Thunder Junction that function similarly to Vehicles with a saddle mechanic; Miriam supports both subtypes equally, making her a natural commander for Mount-tribal builds as that archetype develops.

  • At 2 mana with a 3/2 body, Miriam can be recast cheaply from the command zone multiple times if removed, which reduces the typical commander-tax risk for a commander-dependent strategy.
