Rationale
Breeches is a 3cmc Izzet spellslinger commander who rewards casting multiple spells per turn by sacrificing an artifact for a coin-flip: win = free copy of the spell, lose = free damage equal to the spell's MV. He sits at the intersection of spellslinger and artifact-sacrifice loops (e.g. Treasures, Clues, Eggs), where the "loss" clause still generates value. The random element and artifact-density requirement make him slightly inconsistent but fun in Izzet spell-heavy pirate/goblin builds.
Learnings (3)
The coin-flip trigger fires on your SECOND spell each turn, not each spell — this means multigame storm turns can only trigger him once per turn, pushing him toward value-spell decks rather than pure storm.

The lose-the-flip clause deals damage equal to the spell's mana value to ANY target, meaning high-CMC spells (like X-spells or big sorceries) effectively guarantee meaningful damage even on a loss — pairs well with expensive instants/sorceries.

Breeches synergizes tightly with Treasure-generating spells and artifacts: sacrificing Treasures funds both the artifact-sac requirement AND the spell chain, creating a self-reinforcing loop in Izzet Treasure-spellslinger builds.
