Rationale

Captain Marvel is a 7cmc 6/6 flying legendary that exiles a creature on ETB or attack (giving its controller life equal to its power) and generates lifegain for you whenever any other creature is exiled from the battlefield. She functions as a top-end finisher with repeatable removal and life-gain synergy, fitting best in white lifegain and control shells. At 7 mana she is too slow for aggro or fast combo, and giving the opponent life makes her weaker against creature-light strategies.

Learnings (3)

  • The second triggered ability fires on ANY creature exiled from the battlefield (not just by Captain Marvel), so pairing her with mass-exile effects like Farewell or Hallowed Burial variants can generate large life totals in a single turn.

  • Giving the exiled creature's controller life equal to its power means exiling large opponent creatures actively helps them gain life, making her removal weaker against decks running big creatures like Atraxa or Blightsteel Colossus.

  • Her two triggers (ETB and attack) mean she can exile two different creatures in the same turn if you flicker her after attacking, making flicker shells especially powerful with her.
