Rationale

Conduit Pylons is a colorless Desert land that enters with a free Surveil 1, taps for {C} or {1} for any color. The mana fixing is weak (costs 2 total mana for colored mana), but the free ETB surveil on a land is a small upside with zero tempo cost, making it niche-playable in graveyard-matters or self-mill shells that want cheap library manipulation. Too slow for optimized brackets but a fine filler in low-power and budget decks.

Learnings (3)

  • Conduit Pylons has the Desert subtype, which may matter for Desert-synergy cards (e.g., Arid Archway, Conduit of Worlds) even though it produces only colorless mana for free.

  • The surveil 1 on ETB is completely free — it occurs when the land enters without any additional cost, making it a rare case of a zero-cost library-manipulation effect stapled to a land.

  • The colored mana ability requires {1} additional mana to activate, making this strictly worse than a typical dual-tapping land for colored mana; it should not be treated as a genuine mana-fixing land in competitive shells.
