Elesh Norn functions as a taxing stax threat on the front face — punishing opponents for any source dealing damage to you or your permanents — while the back face, The Argent Etchings, is a Saga that generates five 2/2 Phyrexian tokens (via Incubate 2 × 5), pumps them with double strike, then mass-destroys all non-artifact, non-land, non-Phyrexian permanents and resets itself to the front face. The front face is a strong standalone threat; the full transform package is a near-game-winning engine in white midrange, aristocrats (sacrificing three creatures to transform), and tokens shells that protect their Phyrexians from the Chapter III wipe.
