Rationale
Grand Abolisher is a 2cmc 2/2 with a powerful static ability that blanks all opponent interaction — spells and activated abilities — during your turn. It is a defining protection piece in combo decks (shields your win turn), voltron (protects commander equipment/aura setups), and stax-prison/death-and-taxes (aggressive disruption). The {W}{W} pip requirement color-locks it to white-heavy decks. It is a removal magnet since opponents must answer it before your turn or be locked out entirely.
Learnings (3)
Grand Abolisher only blanks activated abilities of artifacts, creatures, and enchantments — it does NOT stop activated abilities of lands or planeswalkers, nor does it counter spells after they resolve, so it is not a complete lock.

Because its protection applies during your turn only, opponents can interact freely on their own turns; the card is most powerful when your win condition can be assembled and executed in a single turn window.

In cEDH, Grand Abolisher is often the preferred protection piece over Silence because it persists on the board and doesn't need to be held in hand, but its {W}{W} cost makes it harder to cast off fast mana that produces colorless.
