Rationale

Lost Jitte is a 1cmc legendary Equipment that charges on combat damage and offers three modal spend options — untap a land (effectively free equip cost or ramp), prevent blocking (pseudo-evasion), or place a +1/+1 counter (voltron growth). All three modes compound over repeated attacks making it a defining equipment-voltron piece. The land-untap mode is uniquely powerful, enabling mana-neutral equip costs and generating tempo advantages that few 1cmc artifacts can match.

Learnings (3)

  • The land-untap mode on Lost Jitte can effectively make the {1} equip cost free if used the turn you attack — tap land for mana, equip, attack, spend the charge counter to untap that land, netting a free equip.

  • Unlike its predecessor Umezawa's Jitte, Lost Jitte lacks a -1/-1 counter mode, making it significantly weaker as a removal tool and shifting its identity toward voltron growth and evasion rather than board control.

  • The 'can't block this turn' mode is a soft evasion grant — it doesn't give the equipped creature evasion, but removes a specific blocker from the equation, making it strong in 1v1 (Brawl) and weaker in multiplayer where many blockers exist.
