Rationale

2cmc red sorcery — creates a hasty artifact copy of a target artifact or creature you control, then sacrifices it at the next end step. Signature in aristocrats (free death trigger + ETB abuse), artifact-matters (forced-artifact typing enables payoffs), and combo shells (copy a big ETB creature for immediate value or enable infinite-combo loops with sacrifice engines). Actively anti-voltron because the token dies at end of turn and auras on the original don't transfer.

Learnings (3)

  • The forced-artifact typing on the token is a genuine upside, not a flavor rider — it enables artifact payoffs (Marionette Master, Disciple of the Vault) even when copying a creature, making this disproportionately strong in artifact-matters shells.

  • Because the token is sacrificed at the beginning of the NEXT end step, casting this on your turn lets you untap and attack with the haste token on the same turn AND keep it alive until your end step — but casting on an opponent's end step means the token dies at the very next end step (your own), which is a common timing mistake.

  • Molten Duplication pairs with flicker or copy-redirects to save the token: if the token gets exiled and returned before the triggered sacrifice resolves, the new permanent is a different object and the original trigger misses it, effectively making the token permanent.
