Rationale

2cmc sorcery — destroy target creature or planeswalker; additional cost is sacrifice a creature/planeswalker or pay {3} extra. At its cheapest, it's 2-mana unconditional removal which is well above rate, but only in aristocrats/sacrifice shells where the sac cost is free value (death triggers, etc.). In non-sacrifice shells, the {3} tax makes it a 5-mana removal spell — playable but not premium. Sorcery speed limits its defensive utility.

Learnings (3)

  • In non-sacrifice shells, the effective cost is {4}{B} (paying the {3} extra), making it one of the worst unconditional removal spells available — only run it in sacrifice synergy decks.

    tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6

  • The sacrifice cost can be used to trigger aristocrats payoffs (Zulaport Cutthroat, Blood Artist), turning a removal spell into a two-for-one engine in dedicated shells.

  • Unlike edict effects, this still requires targeting a creature or planeswalker — it does not circumvent hexproof or shroud, which is a notable limitation for a spell asking for an additional cost.
