Rationale

1cmc instant — put a +1/+1 counter on a creature you control and give it hexproof until end of turn. A cheap reactive protection spell that also grows the creature, making it a natural fit for voltron/counters-voltron shells where protecting the commander and stacking counters are both priorities. In Commander/Brawl it's a fringe-to-tier-2 include because hexproof-until-end-of-turn is less reliable protection than a permanent hexproof source, though it excels in infect-toxic where every counter matters and blowouts are common.

Learnings (3)

  • Snakeskin Veil is notably stronger in infect-toxic shells where the +1/+1 counter translates to an additional poison counter on the defending player, making the dual function (protection + damage) more impactful than in typical aggro.

  • The hexproof is until end of turn only, meaning opponents can target the creature on subsequent turns — it does not serve as a permanent protection piece and should not be confused with Swiftfoot Boots-style hexproof.

  • In 1v1 Brawl, this card rises to tier-2 because single-opponent interaction is more targeted and predictable, making reactive hexproof more likely to counter the one removal spell your opponent plays.
