Rationale
Stinging Vitriol is a 2-mana Rakdos sorcery that combines 2 face damage with targeted hand disruption (see hand, choose a nonland to discard). This two-in-one effect is over-rate for 2 mana — Blightning has been a gold standard for this effect. Signature in burn (presses life total while stripping answers) and midrange (disruption + clock); also relevant in combo as a pre-emptive answer to interaction. Sorcery speed limits reactivity, making it weaker in control shells and in Commander's wider table dynamics.
Learnings (2)
Stinging Vitriol is functionally identical to Blightning (deal 3, discard 2) except it deals 2 damage and forces a targeted discard (you choose) rather than two random discards — the targeted discard is better quality disruption but the lower damage makes it slightly weaker as a burn spell.

In 1v1 Brawl at 25 life, the 2 face damage is more meaningful than in Commander at 40 life, and seeing plus stripping a key card from a single opponent's hand is maximally impactful, making this a near-auto-include in Rakdos midrange Brawl lists.
