Rationale

5cmc 5/3 flying legendary wraith that tempts the Ring and forces each opponent to sacrifice a creature that dealt combat damage to you this turn — a defensive edict engine with an on-demand indestructible mode via discard. Signature in black control and sacrifice shells that want resilient flyers and forced-sac effects; the "sacrifices a creature of their choice" clause and combat-damage trigger requirement limit its reliability in non-combat-heavy metas. Actively conflicts with aggro (you want to deal damage, not receive it) and tokens-go-wide strategies that flood the board and can cherry-pick expendable tokens to sacrifice.

Learnings (3)

  • The sacrifice trigger fires only on creatures that dealt combat damage to you this turn, so opponents can sacrifice any one of those creatures — not necessarily their best creature; they retain full choice among the eligible attackers.

  • The indestructible activation requires discarding a card at instant speed, which can blank targeted removal at minimal tempo loss but creates card disadvantage; in hand-hungry shells this cost compounds quickly.

  • In multiplayer Commander, the edict effect hits each opponent who attacked you, but each sacrifices only one creature among those that dealt damage — making it weaker against single, wide attacks from one opponent and stronger when multiple opponents pile in.
