Rationale
Witherbloom, the Balancer is an 8cmc 5/5 flying, deathtouch Elder Dragon that costs {1} less for each creature you control, and also extends that affinity discount to every instant and sorcery you cast. This makes it a strong payoff in creature-dense BG midrange or aristocrats shells where a board of tokens or utility creatures both reduces its cost significantly and makes your interaction/draw spells cheaper. It's most at home in spellslinger-adjacent builds that also maintain a wide board, but the 8-mana base cost and dependency on creature count make it slow and creature-density-dependent.
Learnings (3)
The passive affinity extension to instants and sorceries is uniquely powerful in shells that maintain a wide board — a full board of 6+ creatures can effectively make your Cultivates and removal spells cost 0, enabling explosive turns.

Unlike most cost reducers, Witherbloom's affinity applies to ALL instants and sorceries you cast (not just once per turn), so in a single-turn burst with multiple spells, every spell in that sequence benefits from the full creature count at the time of casting.

Because the discount is based on creatures you control at cast time, sacrifice outlets or board wipes before casting Witherbloom itself can dramatically inflate its effective mana cost — sequencing creatures before the Dragon is critical.
