Rationale
Yargle is a 9/3 vanilla legendary creature for 5 mana — massively above rate on raw power but brings zero text, evasion, or protection. Its only real home is as a commander in voltron shells where the enormous base power makes one-shot kills trivial with trample/evasion equipment or auras; in the 99 it's nearly always outclassed by creatures that do something. It actively conflicts with control, combo, and stax plans that need value or interaction rather than a sorcery-speed 9/3 with no abilities.
Learnings (3)
Yargle's 9 power makes it the highest-base-power monoblack commander available at 5 mana, enabling a one-shot commander damage kill with a single trample or unblockable effect — no other mono-B legend achieves this as cheaply.

The 3-toughness is a critical liability: any 3-power creature or cheap removal kills it in combat, and it dies to Pyroclasm effects, making it nearly unplayable without protection spells.

Yargle sees semi-serious play specifically in Yargle & Multani paired-commander builds, where the combined 9/3 + 8/6 creature math makes 21-commander-damage kills extremely easy with one buff.
