Rationale
Calix is a 3cmc enchantment-creature commander whose constellation trigger distributes +1/+1 counters whenever enchantments enter, and whose combat-damage trigger copies a nonlegendary enchantment — a potentially explosive engine when enchanted creatures connect. He is a signature piece in enchantment-matters and aura-voltron shells (Selesnya enchantress strategies), but requires a dense enchantment base and demands combat damage, making him a build-around that struggles without the right support. His enchantment typing gives him resilience to typical creature removal in some contexts, and unchecked he can spiral into a board-dominating engine via enchantment copying.
Learnings (3)
Calix's copy trigger fires when ANY enchanted creature you control deals combat damage, not just Calix himself — wide aura-voltron boards with multiple enchanted attackers can copy different enchantments in a single turn via separate triggers (one copy per turn limit is per-Calix, not per game).
tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6
The copied enchantment token is nonlegendary by template, so copying an Enchantment Creature like Setessan Champion produces a nonlegendary copy — it won't die to the legend rule, which is a meaningful upside for sagas and enchantment-creatures.
tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6
Calix himself is a Legendary Enchantment Creature, so he triggers his own Constellation ability when he enters — the initial ETB gives one free +1/+1 counter to a creature before any additional enchantments are played.
