Rationale
Coveted Jewel is a 6-mana rock that draws 3 on ETB and taps for 3 of any one color, but hands itself — along with 3 free cards — to any opponent whose unblocked creatures hit you. The ETB draw is strong but the theft clause is so punishing in multiplayer that the card is fundamentally unreliable outside group-hug shells where giving opponents cards and resources aligns with the gameplan. In 1v1 Brawl the theft trigger fires more predictably, making it even more dangerous to run.
Learnings (3)
The theft trigger fires whenever one or more unblocked creatures attack YOU specifically — in multiplayer this means only the player attacking you steals it, but in 1v1 Brawl your single opponent can reliably threaten the steal every turn, making the card even riskier in that format.

Coveted Jewel is sometimes run as a 'bait' card in pillowfort/group-hug decks that prevent attacks anyway (Ghostly Prison, Propaganda), which can negate the theft trigger while still banking the ETB draw and mana output.

Despite tapping for 3 mana and drawing 3 cards on ETB, Coveted Jewel sees very little competitive play because the theft clause is not a 'may' — any unblocked attack automatically hands the card and 3 cards to the attacker, making it an anti-tempo liability in nearly every competitive shell.
