Rationale

A 3-chapter saga that wipes all mana-value-1 permanents (Chapter I, hitting mana dorks, Moxes, and low-cost rocks), then exiles all graveyards (Chapter II), then transforms into a 3/3 trampling ogre shaman that grows with every hit and kills any player it deals 10+ damage to in a single turn (Chapter III). It's a three-in-one package: a proactive boardwipe against low-curve and token strategies, total graveyard hate, and a self-scaling alt-wincon finisher — signature in control and midrange shells that want to disrupt the table and close games.

Learnings (3)

  • Chapter I hits mana-value-1 permanents including Sol Ring (mana value 1), Arcane Signet does NOT die (mana value 2), and Mana Crypt is safe (mana value 0) — the sweep is precise, not a catch-all rock wipe.

    tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6

  • The back face Vessel's 10-damage-this-turn trigger is cumulative across multiple hits in the same turn (e.g., trample overflow + direct combat damage), making it a legitimate one-turn kill threat if the creature is large enough or opponents are at low life.

    tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6

  • Because Chapter I is a triggered ability that resolves after the Saga enters, opponents with instant-speed interaction can respond before their mana-value-1 permanents are destroyed — it is NOT a replacement effect.
