Rationale

A 4cmc 7/6 trample demon with ward—discard a card, making it surprisingly sticky for its cost; the Infusion trigger forces a permanent sacrifice at end step unless you gained life that turn, so it fits best in lifegain shells (where the condition is easy to satisfy) or aristocrats (where you have fodder to sacrifice). In aggressive or stax builds, the end-step sacrifice tax is actively punishing: aggro can't reliably gain life, and stax decks can't afford to feed their own lock pieces.

Learnings (3)

  • The Infusion trigger checks life gained 'this turn,' so even incidental lifegain (a lifelink attack, a fetchland trigger from a Soul Warden, etc.) fully satisfies it — the threshold is any gain, not a specific amount.

  • Ward—Discard a card is notably stronger than Ward {2} in resource-constrained formats like Brawl, where opponents often hold fewer cards; the discard cost doubles as pseudo-hand disruption against reactive decks.

  • A 7/6 trample for 4 mana is one of the most efficient stat lines in black at this cost; the Infusion clause is the true downside to evaluate, not the ward or size.
