Rationale

2cmc artifact that taps for {B}{R} at the cost of {1} — the Rakdos-colored member of the 10-Signet cycle. Generic mana-fixing rock for any black/red or Mardu/Jund/etc. Commander deck; no deck-specific archetype defines it, making it a generic staple. Drops out of brackets 4–5 where faster rocks (Mana Crypt, Arcane Signet) dominate, and isn't worth running in Limited where the activation cost is painful with few basics.

  • Rakdos Signet requires {1} activation on top of its {2} cast cost, meaning it effectively costs 3 mana the turn it comes down — making it notably slower than Arcane Signet, which taps for free. In Brawl, Arcane Signet almost always takes the 2-mana rock slot first.
