Rationale

The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride is a 6/5 trample/haste Mount that rewards saddling by converting a sacrificed creature's power into X card draws and X free land drops — an explosive lands-matter and aristocrats payoff stapled to a must-answer beater. It's a signature commander and 99-card engine in BG sacrifice/lands shells, converting fodder into massive land-based ramp; it demands evasion or a clear board to trigger but threatens to end games when it resolves. Not quite a cEDH-bracket card (requires combat), sitting comfortably in brackets 3–4.

Learnings (3)

  • The sacrifice is optional (you 'may' sacrifice), so Gitrog can be used as a pure 6/5 haste trampler even without a saddle creature to spend — relevant when you need to attack but don't want to sacrifice your best creature.

  • Because lands enter the battlefield tapped from the trigger, they don't produce mana the turn they arrive, but they do count for landfall triggers, making Gitrog a premier landfall engine in the same turn it deals damage.

  • The saddling creature's power at time of sacrifice determines X, so pumping the saddle creature (e.g., with +1/+1 counters) before the trigger resolves can dramatically increase the number of cards drawn and lands put into play.
