Rationale

3cmc black sorcery with two modes: a global -2/-2 (kills most small creatures and weakens the board) or a full unconditional Wrath of God if you gained life this turn. The base mode is solid but the Infusion upgrade is what makes it premium — black rarely gets unconditional mass removal at 3 mana, conditioned only on gaining life. Signature in lifegain-themed control shells; actively conflicts with aggro, tokens-go-wide, and aristocrats since it kills your own creatures indiscriminately.

Learnings (3)

  • The base -2/-2 mode is already playable removal in black, but the Infusion condition — gaining any life this turn — is relatively easy to trigger in dedicated lifegain decks, making this a conditional Wrath at 3 mana, an exceptionally low cost for unconditional board wipes.

  • Gaining life before casting this is the key sequencing requirement; cards like Vault of the Archangel, a single lifelink attacker, or even a Soul Warden trigger can unlock the full Wrath mode at instant-speed setup + sorcery cast.

  • Unlike most black board wipes (Damnation, In Garruk's Wake), this can be played in budget lifegain shells at mythic rarity but is not a Game Changer, meaning it slots freely into bracket 2-3 lists without restriction.
