Deck Guide

Why Play This Deck

This Aurelia deck excels at explosive, game-ending turns through multiple combat phases and overwhelming board presence. Aurelia's unique ability to grant extra combat steps while untapping your entire team creates devastating alpha strikes that can eliminate opponents before they stabilize. The deck combines efficient early pressure with powerful equipment and extra combat effects to consistently threaten lethal damage by turns 6-8. Key strengths include built-in haste and vigilance on the commander, access to powerful tutors like Enlightened Tutor for key pieces, and multiple paths to victory through commander damage, combat damage, or infinite combat loops.

Play Summary

Deploy early threats like Ragavan and Esper Sentinel while ramping with signets and mana rocks to cast Aurelia on curve. Protect Aurelia with equipment like Swiftfoot Boots or instant-speed protection like Boros Charm, then immediately pressure opponents with double combat phases. Use the untap trigger to attack with your entire board twice per turn, generating massive damage and card advantage through attack triggers. Close games quickly through commander damage via Rogue's Passage, or set up infinite combat loops with Helm of the Host. The deck aims to win by turn 7-8 through overwhelming combat damage backed by anthems and protection spells.

Key Synergies

Helm creates non-legendary copies of Aurelia that each trigger additional combat phases. With two Aurelia copies, you get infinite combat steps for an immediate win. This is the deck's primary combo finish.

These extra combat spells stack with Aurelia's natural extra phase to create triple combat turns. Aggravated Assault can be activated multiple times with enough mana, while Great Train Heist provides immediate triple combat for just 4 mana.

Feather returns instant spells that target your creatures to your hand, allowing you to repeatedly use Boros Charm for protection or Akroma's Will for massive combat tricks. This creates sustainable card advantage while protecting key threats.

Roaming Throne doubles triggered abilities of chosen creature types. Naming Angel doubles Aurelia the Law Above's investigate/token creation and amplifies other Angel synergies, creating explosive value engines.

The Angel tribal package provides both acceleration and payoffs. Giada ramps specifically toward Angels while providing +1/+1 counters, Lyra grants lifelink and anthem effects, and multiple Aurelia variants stack their combat benefits.

Opening Hand

Prioritize hands with 2-3 lands including at least one dual land, early mana acceleration (Arcane Signet, Boros Signet, or Mox Amber), and either an early threat or protection for Aurelia. Ideal hands include Giada for Angel synergy and ramp, or equipment like Swiftfoot Boots to immediately protect Aurelia. Avoid hands without acceleration since Aurelia's 6-mana cost requires consistent development. Hands with Enlightened Tutor are strong as it can find Helm of the Host for the combo win or Embercleave for immediate pressure. Keep hands that can deploy Aurelia by turn 5-6 with protection ready.
