Why Play This Deck

Providence of Night offers a unique and powerful value engine by copying every spell with hybrid mana in its cost. This creates explosive turns where a single hybrid spell becomes two, doubling your impact and generating overwhelming card advantage. The commander's protection from monocolored makes it resilient to most removal, while the five-color identity gives access to the best hybrid spells and interaction in the format. When the engine is online, every hybrid spell you cast effectively draws you a card while advancing your board state.

Play Summary

This midrange value deck establishes Providence of Night early and chains hybrid spells for explosive advantage. The early game focuses on ramping with Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves, and Farseek while fixing mana with premium lands and Chromatic effects. Once the commander is active, every hybrid spell becomes a two-for-one, creating immediate board presence and card advantage. The deck can pivot between aggressive pressure with copied creatures like Burning-Tree Emissary and controlling the game with copied removal and counterspells. Late game, token doublers like Anointed Procession and Growing Ranks turn copied creature spells into overwhelming board states.

Key Synergies

Cast Manamorphose, Providence copies it for four mana of any colors total, then Archmage Emeritus triggers twice to draw two cards, creating a powerful card and mana advantage engine.

Providence copies Burning-Tree Emissary for two 2/2 creatures, Anointed Procession doubles that to four creatures, then Growing Ranks populates each turn for exponential token growth.

Leyline makes all your permanents all colors, allowing Faeburrow Elder and Bloom Tender to tap for five mana each, enabling explosive hybrid spell turns and consistent commander deployment.

Providence copies Figure of Destiny for two creatures, then copying Gift of Orzhova creates two enchantments that each grant flying and lifelink, building a powerful evasive threat package.

Tutor for Judge's Familiar with Eladamri's Call, then when Providence copies the Familiar you get two flying creatures that can each counter a spell, creating a versatile threat and protection package.

Opening Hand

Prioritize hands with 2-3 lands including fixing, one piece of ramp (Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves, or Farseek), and 1-2 hybrid spells to maximize the commander's impact. Hands with Leyline of the Guildpact are premium keeps as they solve all mana issues. Look for a mix of early plays and hybrid payoffs - ideal hands might include Command Tower, Breeding Pool, Birds of Paradise, Manamorphose, and Figure of Destiny. Avoid hands without color fixing or ways to cast Providence on curve, as the deck's power level drops significantly without the copy engine active.
